Holi Festivities Bring Joy Across Haryana and Punjab
Holi, the festival of colors, was celebrated with immense enthusiasm across Haryana and Punjab on Friday. People of all ages participated in the vibrant celebrations, smearing ‘gulal’ on each other’s faces, throwing water balloons, and sharing sweets with friends and family.
Colorful Celebrations and Street Festivities
The streets were filled with joyous revellers, some riding motorbikes while others danced to lively music. Devotees gathered in large numbers at the Durgiana Temple in Amritsar, while Anandpur Sahib in Punjab witnessed an influx of Sikh devotees celebrating Holla Mohalla.
Security Measures Ensured a Safe Holi
To maintain law and order, police in Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh implemented strict security measures. Authorities issued warnings against hooliganism, and traffic police were deployed at key locations to curb reckless driving and over-speeding.
Leaders Extend Holi Greetings
Prominent leaders took to social media to share their festive wishes. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria expressed that Holi symbolizes India’s rich cultural heritage and unity. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann wished happiness and harmony for all, while Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that Holi represents love, brotherhood, and social harmony.
Special Holi Events in Haryana
On the eve of Holi, Haryana Raj Bhavan hosted a ‘Holi Milan Samaroh,’ attended by Chief Minister Saini, Assembly Speaker Harvinder Kalyan, and senior officials. Governor Dattatreya applied ‘gulal’ to guests and showered flowers, fostering a spirit of unity and celebration.
