A 23-year-old woman was reportedly kidnapped and targeted for rape early Sunday morning in the Leopard Trail area of the Aravalli Hills, Gurugram. Police successfully intervened and apprehended the suspect along with his vehicle, according to senior police officials.


Incident Details

The woman, a resident of Sirsa district working for a real estate company in Gurugram, was staying in a paying guest accommodation. Around 3 a.m. on January 25, 2026, she and a male friend stopped briefly near Leopard Trail during their return from an event.

According to the complaint, a young man snatched her mobile phone and attempted to flee. When she confronted him, the suspect allegedly forcibly pushed her into his Scorpio car and drove toward the forested area. Her friend pursued the vehicle and alerted the police immediately.


Police Response and Rescue

Responding promptly, the Gurugram police launched a search operation lasting approximately three hours. At around 5:30 a.m., the suspect’s vehicle was found in a drain near Sakatpur village.

During the recovery:

  • The suspect, identified as Gaurav Rathi (25) from village Pandala, was found half-naked in the front seat.

  • The woman was found unconscious in the back seat.

Police confirmed that the woman refused medical examination, but the investigation continues from all angles.


Suspect Information

The accused, Gaurav Rathi, previously worked as a driver and fruit stall operator. An FIR for kidnapping and attempted rape has been filed, and he is currently in police custody.

Inspector Vijay Pal, SHO of Badshahpur Police Station, stated, “The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.”


Authorities Urge Vigilance

Officials have advised citizens to remain alert in isolated areas, especially during late-night hours. The quick action by the Gurugram police is being praised for preventing a potential tragedy and ensuring public safety.
