The air quality in Punjab and Haryana deteriorated significantly on Saturday, November 9, 2024, with several areas falling under the ‘poor’ category. The situation was worse in Chandigarh, the joint capital, which recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 322, placing it in the ‘very poor’ band.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer App, Bahadugarh in Haryana reported an AQI of 314 at 9 a.m., also classified as ‘very poor’. The Sameer App provides real-time updates, highlighting the alarming state of air pollution in the region.
Authorities have urged residents to take precautionary measures to protect their health, particularly those vulnerable to respiratory issues. The worsening air quality underscores the urgent need for stricter environmental policies and public awareness to combat pollution
