Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Bittu, announced that a Vande Bharat sleeper train will run between Delhi and Amritsar starting next winter. The new service aims to provide faster travel and greater comfort for passengers.
Route and Stops
The train will stop at key cities, including Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Jalandhar. To support operations, the government has allocated land near Ladhowal, Ludhiana, for a locomotive maintenance shed. This facility will help manage the train efficiently at terminal points.
Infrastructure Projects
During his visit to Doraha, Bittu laid the foundation stone for a new Road Overbridge (ROB) connecting Doraha with Neelon. This long-delayed project will reduce traffic congestion and improve safety at Level Crossing No. 164-AB near Doraha railway station.
The ceremony included senior railway officials and local representatives. Once complete, the overbridge will allow smoother traffic flow and enhance rail-road connectivity in the region.
Benefits for Passengers and the Region
The Vande Bharat sleeper train and the new overbridge will make travel faster and safer. This project strengthens the rail network in Punjab and improves access to northern cities. Passengers can expect modern facilities, better connectivity, and reduced travel time.
