Paid Holiday Declared for Delhi Assembly Elections

This aligns with the directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI), based on Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. What Will Be Open During Delhi Elections 2025?
Despite the public holiday, several essential services will remain operational on election day.
- Delhi Metro: Trains will start at 4:00 AM and run every 30 minutes until 6:00 AM, after which regular schedules will resume.
- DTC Buses: Additional services will be available on 35 routes to facilitate voter movement.
- Healthcare Facilities: Hospitals, pharmacies, and emergency medical centers will remain fully operational to provide uninterrupted medical services.
- Retail Businesses: Grocery stores, shops, restaurants, and most retail establishments are expected to operate as usual.
What Will Be Closed During Delhi Elections?
Certain establishments and services will be temporarily closed in compliance with Election Commission guidelines:
- Liquor Shops: All liquor stores and licensed establishments will remain shut from 6:00 PM on February 3 to 6:00 PM on February 5. This measure aims to prevent electoral malpractices.
- Government and Private Workplaces: Offices across Delhi and Haryana will remain closed for the day.
