A man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his sister after she married against the family’s wishes, police confirmed on Thursday. Authorities said the accused had also planned to kill his sister’s husband, but law enforcement intercepted him before the attack could take place.
🔫 Details of the Incident
The accused, Sanju, reportedly shot dead his 23-year-old sister, Sapna, at her home in Kahani village, Rohtak, on Wednesday evening. Sapna had married Suraj, an autorickshaw driver, more than two years ago, against her family’s approval.
At the time of the shooting, Suraj was not at home, but his brother Sahil sustained injuries during the incident. Sanju allegedly carried out the crime with the assistance of three accomplices.
🚨 Police Action and Arrest
Following credible information that Sanju planned to attack Suraj, police established a checkpoint on Ladot-Bohar Road in Rohtak. When the suspects tried to flee, they opened fire on the police team. Acting in self-defense, officers returned fire, and all four accused were injured. They are now receiving treatment at PGIMS Hospital, Rohtak.
