HRIDC’s 31st Board Meeting Overview

The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC) convened its 31st Board Meeting on Friday, chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi. The meeting’s primary focus was to review the progress and updates on crucial railway projects designed to enhance Haryana’s transportation network.

Progress on Major Railway Projects

Several high-priority railway infrastructure projects were discussed, including the commissioning of the Manesar-Patli line, the Kurukshetra Elevated Track, and the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC).

Manesar-Patli Line Developments

A significant update was the completion of the interconnection of the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) with the Indian Railways network at Patli, achieved on March 28, 2025. The remodeling of Patli Yard has also received approval from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northern Circle, in connection with the Patli-Manesar priority section.

The MSIL Railway Yard, comprising track formation, overhead electrification (OHE), and signaling and telecommunication (S&T) works, is now complete. The Manesar-Patli section is fully prepared for operation. On March 27, 2025, the opening documents were submitted to Northern Railway for review. The CRS inspection is scheduled for April 2025.

Kurukshetra Elevated Track Update

The construction of the elevated viaduct, track, and electrification under the Kurukshetra Elevated Track Project has been completed. Initially, the project was set to be commissioned without Thanesar Station, thus eliminating five level crossings. However, Northern Railway has requested that the project be completed only after the construction of Thanesar Station. The full project, including Thanesar Station with its elevated platform, is expected to be completed by September 2025.

Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor Feasibility

The Uttar Pradesh government assigned HRIDC to conduct a feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC), which will connect Sonipat to Palwal, passing through Baghpat, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar. HRIDC submitted its findings to the Steering Committee of NCR (UP) on February 28, 2025. The committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, will review the study for further decision-making.

Ongoing and Upcoming Projects

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Garhi Harsaru–Farukhnagar–Jhajjar line (36 km) is in progress. In addition, work continues on the Karnal-Yamunanagar new rail line (65 km), with plans moving forward.

Focus on Timely Completion and Coordination

Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi emphasized the need for seamless coordination among all stakeholders to ensure that these vital infrastructure projects are completed on schedule. These initiatives are expected to provide significant boosts to Haryana’s connectivity and economic development.

Conclusion

Haryana’s railway infrastructure projects are steadily progressing, with key initiatives moving closer to completion. These efforts aim to not only enhance connectivity within Haryana but also provide broader economic benefits to the state. Senior officials, including Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, attended the meeting to emphasize the importance of timely execution.
