Rahul Gandhi Criticizes PM Modi’s Campaign Statements

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim during the 2024 Lok Sabha election campaign that he speaks directly to God. Gandhi described this statement as indicative of a “psychological collapse,” suggesting it was a sign of Modi’s declining confidence.

Gandhi’s Observations on Modi’s Campaign Struggles

Speaking at Georgetown University in Washington DC, Gandhi reflected on Modi’s claim of divine communication, stating, “When he said that ‘I speak directly to God,’ we knew that we had actually blown him apart. And that the psychology had gone.” Gandhi implied that Modi’s confidence faltered as the campaign progressed and noted that the Prime Minister struggled to adapt to the challenges of the 2024 election.

Congress MP Questions Fairness of Lok Sabha Elections

Gandhi also questioned the integrity of the Lok Sabha elections, alleging that the BJP had financially undermined the Congress party by freezing its bank accounts and that the Election Commission showed bias in favor of the ruling party. He expressed skepticism about the fairness of the election, stating, “I don’t see it as a free election. I see it as a heavily controlled election.”

Additional Criticisms and International Engagement

In his US visit, Gandhi made additional criticisms of the BJP and the ruling NDA coalition, claiming it had fractured. He also discussed issues of religious freedom in India and plans to meet with American lawmakers and officials during his stopover in Washington DC.
